You’re Invited to an Open House Celebrating Our 20th Anniversary!

When Peter Kump and other friends of James Beard decided to save Beard’s townhouse and start a foundation to honor his legacy as the “Dean of American Cookery,” little did they imagine how far their idea would travel. Today, the Foundation’s positive impact on chefs, restaurateurs, and culinary students is demonstrated daily through our many programs, events, awards, and scholarships.

Even so, in some ways the James Beard Foundation has been the best-kept secret in New York. Now we are eager to get the word out about all the exciting things we’re doing. As a special thank you to our community and our members, we are holding a special Open House tour of the historic Beard House on November 5th. Please stop in to take a full tour of the house and enjoy refreshments prepared by students at the Institute of Culinary Education (also founded by Peter Kump). Bring a friend who might be interested in becoming a member, too. All are welcome, because we believe that’s what James would have liked.
