  • TGIT. Thank God it's Thursday. Darryl Hill (W.H. Bone) is opening Thursdays, a supper club with jazz and dancing, in the 19th Street space that was Grand Havana Room for a short time. The club is to feature Southern-style haute cuisine, à la Georgia Brown, and Hill plans to open by summer

  • Robert Wiedmaier has departed Aquarelle at The Watergate to become chef/ partner with investor David Thomas at Marcel's, formerly known as Provence, at 24th and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. Marcel's, named after Wiedmaier's newborn son, will serve country French cuisine with a Flemish flair. Aquarelle's Thierry Lesparre has rejoined Wiedmaier as sommelier along with restau-rant manager Youssef Essakl

  • New York-based Ark Restaurants (Sequoia, America) is opening Thunder Grill in Union Station to replace Red

  • Justin Nielson (ex-Pesce) is now chef at The Grill Room at the Ritz-Carlton, Pentagon City

  • Hide Yakamoto, formerly of The Jockey Club at the Sheraton Luxury Suites, is now at The Madison Hotel

  • Jeff Thomchek has left McCormick & Schmick for the Westmoreland Country Club in Wilmette, just outside of Chicago

  • Fabrizio and Ingrid Aielli plan to open Teatro Goldoni, their second area restaurant, in September in the newly developed Millennium Building at 19th and K Streets, NW

  • Also in September, Linda Orr and Michelle Brown plan to open a second Teaism, this one at 8th and D Streets, NW, near the Navy Memorial. The store will have a liquor license so they can sell sake as well as beer and wine. They also plan to cater

  • This fall, Boston-based Brew Moon Restaurant and Microbrewery will open its first restaurant in D.C., where Houlihan's used to be in George-town Park

  • Richard Danker, Jeff Newman, and Bob Garner will open Glory Days Grill No. 4 in Centreville at Centreville Crossing Shopping Center, and No. 5 in Germantown at Cloppers Mill. Glory Days Grill bills itself as a family-style restaurant with a sports theme

  • Corner Bakery has opened at Washingtonian Center in Gaithersburg, soon to be joined by Romano's Macaroni Grill, Joe's Crabshack, and Rio Grande

  • Jeff Heineman has leased the Bethesda space formerly occupied by Ricky's Rice Bowl on Cordell Avenue. Heineman plans to open a wine bar-restaurant.
