Boston

  • Destination Newbury. Matthew Campbell, formerly of Michaela's and Rialto in Cambridge, and Stars in San Francisco, is now chef at 29 Newbury

  • The aptly named Central Kitchen has opened in Central Square, serving funky bar food under chef/co-owner Gary Strack (ex-Audubon Grill and Miracle of Science), Richman Reinauer, Fred Carret, and consulting chef Paul Hathaway. Meanwhile, Hathaway's Washington Square Tavern is slated to open in Brookline this summer

  • Irish-trained Frank Lydon is now executive chef at Tasca, a cozy Spanish restaurant, in Brighton, where he joins old pal Dan McMyler

  • The Good Life Uptown is owner Brian O'Neill's reincarnation of Harvey's on St. Botolph Street, a throwback jazz hideout with a sister location on Kingston Street

  • The Ritz-Carlton has opened its Caviar Lounge, serving Boyajian caviar

  • Joey Crugnale (Steve's, Bertucci's) has opened Naked Fish in Westboro, the first in a planned chain of casual restaurants

  • Cafe Belo has moved to larger quarters on Brighton Avenue to allow more space for its Brazilian buffet of 20 to 30 daily items

  • Bubba's Authentic New England Barbecue is opening in Medford. Owners Ken Oswalt and David Stein also own the fine-dining Cafe Bon Vivant across the street.
