Cozy Cosi. Justin Ward (Harvest) has opened the 100-seat Cosi in the former Square Table space on East Ponce de Leon. David Intonato (Harvest, Abbey) has created a Mediterranean menu with Greek, Spanish, French, and Italian specialties. Food 101 is open for business in the Belle Isle Square. Partners Stephen Buero, Frank Smith, Chris Segal, and Mark Stillman describe their 120-seat venture as back to basics, with hearty food by Scott Crawford (ex-Peasant Uptown), including pot roast with pan gravy and maple- brine pork tenderloin with plum-fig sauce. On Sundays, with enough advance notice, Crawford will make a favorite family recipe forparties of six or more. The Dining Room is out at the downtown Ritz-Carlton, and the Atlanta Grill is in, complete with a new look, new breakfast and lunch service, and a new menu with regional favorites such as Brunswick rabbit stew with macaroni and cheese. Casa Blanca Cafe on Peachtree Road, formerly the Spanish Cafe, is dishing up the specialties of Mexico and El Salvador. Pano Karatassos (Buckhead Life Group) is renovating his 21-year-old flagship property, Pano and Paul's, with the help of designer Bill Johnson. Meanwhile,co-founder Paul Albrecht has left Pano and Paul's to open Enos, his own restaurant in Florida The Italian eatery Bertucci's has gone dark, as has Bertolini's in Phipps Plaza. Ditto to the once impossible-to-get-into Kudzu Cafe on Peachtree. |
