South Looping. Havingpioneered the Randolph Street market district with Vivo, Marché, and Red Light, Jerry Kleiner has set his sights on developing South Loop by opening Gioco, a rustic Italian restaurant with seafood, pizza, and pasta. The restaurant is housed in an 1890 building, and its decor suggests aProhibition speakeasy. Joe Rosetti, who opened Mrs. Park's Tavern and was corporate chef of Smith & Wollensky, is executive chef. Lettuce Entertain You has opened the Italian eatery Antico Posto in OakbrookCenter, with Russell Bry (ex-Wildfire) at the stoves Francesca's Amici has opened in the Elmhurst space most recently occupied by Zealous, which has moved to River North. Kimberly Stewart(ex-Charlie Trotter's, Cafe Absinthe) has joined Spago Chicago as pastry chef. Boxing legend Muhammed Ali recently visited Jilly's to dine on son-in-law Bob Walsh's chicken Vesuvio. Walsh is married to Ali's daughter Rasheda. The newly renovated Country Inn Restaurant at Lambs Farm in Libertyville has reopened, with a new menu of farm-style fare by Joel Igegno. The restaurant provides vocational opportunities for adults withdevelopmental disabilities. |
