Washington DC

  • Matching set. DC Coast chef/owner Jeff Tunks and partners David Wizenberg and Gus DiMillo plan to open a second restaurant in downtown Washington this summer, this one a 130-seat Asian spot at Pennsylvania and 10th Street, NW. Tunks plans to eventually turn over the new kitchen to longtime sous-chef Cliff Wharton.

  • The owners ofThe Sporting News Grille have renamed the restaurant Christopher Marks after the license from Times Mirror Magazines expired.

  • Martin Saylor (ex-Hay-Adams Hotel) is executive chef of Umbi Singh's Butterfield 9 in the Garfinckle building.

  • At The Roof Terrace Restaurant at the Kennedy Center, Tony Tsui (ex-Peking Gourmet in Falls Church) is now restaurant manager and Shannon Shaffer is executive chef.

  • Fresh from Olives in Las Vegas, Steve Mannino is executive chef at Olives on K Street, NW.

  • Restaurant designers Theo Adamstein and Olivia Demetrou, along with John Mazur and Doug Campbell, have opened Grape Finds, a wine store at Dupont Circle. Michael Green chose the 100 varieties of wine on offer and will direct tastings. Plans are already in the works for a second store in Reston, with 20 more planned in the next five years.

  • Lettuce Entertain You's Asian-themed Big Bowl is scouting several sites in the area, the first slated to open this summer on Woodmont Avenue in Bethesda.

  • Neiman Marcus plans to transform the first-floor café in its Mazza Gallerie store into a full-service restaurant.
