Collapsing star. Waterside Inn in Bray is now Great Britain's only three-star restaurant. In the newest Michelin guide, Chez Nico lost its three-star statusfollowing that restaurant's transformation into the more casual cheznico, with prices slashed by 30 percent. The Oak Room's Marco Pierre White was also demoted, presumably because White is no longer in the kitchen. Michelin winners include Gordon Ramsay's nine-month-old Pétrus with chefMarcus Wareing, Sir TerenceConran's Orrery, and Roussillon, each of which received its first Michelin star. Wine bar Wine Wharf has opened in the Vinopolis, City of Wine complex in the Borough Market area. The Black Truffle has opened on Chalcot Road in Primrose Hill. The northern Italian menu from chef Franco Parisi is a mix of classic and innovative dishes. . Outpatients is a new deli offshoot of Damien Hirst's restaurant Pharmacy, located just next door on Notting Hill Gate. The Canteen in Chelsea Harbour has closed. Owners Michael Caine and Claudio Pulze will be relocating it nearer the West End. Searcy-CorriganRestaurants has purchased The English Garden in Chelsea, bringing in new decor, new management, and new chef Malcolm Starmer (ex-Lindsay House). Between Six and Eight atop Leicester Square's Home Club has been relaunched as Seven with Richard Turner as head chef. . |
