• In one awful week, famed Philadelphia restaurateur Georges Perrier, chef/owner of the acclaimed Le Bec-Fin, suffered two severe blows. First, the Mobil Guide demoted the restaurant from five stars to four. Then, FrancescoMartorella, chef of BrasseriePerrier, hung up his apron.

• Oasis is a sleek newcomer to Walnut Street, in the neighborhood of the original Restaurant Row. Actually, Oasis is practically a whole restaurant row in itself, with Korean, Chinese, Thai, and American foods on a single menu.

• Executive chef Peter Schintler (ex-Le Cirque) has quietly moved into the Westin Hotel kitchen with Eric Boerner (ex-Tony Clark) as executive pastry chef.

• Audrey Taichman is planning to open 20 Manning Street across Rittenhouse Square from her Audrey Claire.
