Runaway from the circus. After a stint setting up traveling kitchens with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey, Stefen Reilly has returned to open Main Street American Food & Drink with partner Sal Bovoso. The American eatery is in the Ramada Inn Union Square (formerly The Mark Twain) on Taylor Street. Jon Varnedoe (Foreign Cinema) has leased the former Bruno's space on Mission Street and plans to spruce it up, keeping the 1950s style and serving dinner and music six days a week. They haven't heard the crack of the bat yet at the new Pacific Bell Park, but Tim Harmon and Jon Swanson have opened the fourth Paragon Restaurant & Bar on Second Street at Townsend. Harry Denton, major domo at Harry's Starlight Room atop the Sir Francis Drake Hotel, has taken over the former Johnny Love's at the corner of Polk and Broadway, renaming it 1500 Broadway. The new incarnation hosts a nightclub with dancing and a light menu. Brian Whitmer has left Moose's to open The Lodge at Sonoma, a Renaissance Hotel & Spa managed by Marriott. His replacement at Moose's is Jason Miller. |
